Settlement Support New Zealand can provide additional support for people who have recently moved to Christchurch and who are unsure where to go or who to speak with.

TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
LANGUAGE LINE PROVIDES INTERPRETING SERVICES TO MOST GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS. When you call, simply ask for “Language Line” ‐ and say which language you need.
YOU CAN ALSO CALL LANGUAGE LINE DIRECT on 0800 656 656 for general help and advice in 41 languages Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – 2pm.
INTERPRETING NEW ZEALAND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN 71 LANGUAGES where possible. Call Free 0508 468 377 from 9am ‐ 5pm, or 04 384 2849 after hours.

You can also call 0800 524 8248 (0800 KAI TAHU) and ask for migrant, or refugee, assistance, to be transferred to the MIGRANT CALL CENTRE, 9am‐7pm daily
Staff will help determine the problem, and refer the issue to the appropriate agency or support group.
Support is also available in person at the Migrant Call Centre, Rehua Marae in Springfield Road.
